The NCC will be organising a second CYBER Breakfast event to follow on the success of the first event that kicked off the National Cybersecurity Community. This event will take the form of a business breakfast at The Link Hall, Malta Business Registry, Żejtun, on Thursday, 4th May 2023, between 08:00 and 12:00. Community members will have the opportunity to network, knowledge share, and attend a training session on an emerging cybersecurity topic.
The event will kick-off with a session delivered by the National Cybersecurity Coordination Centre. This first session will tackle the operational aspects of the Community, and funding opportunities and schemes on a national and EU level.
Subsequently, a training session delivered by Dr Christian Colombo on ‘Hardware Security Modules – Unpacking a Black Box’ will follow. Christian Colombo has obtained a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Malta in 2013, and currently holds the position of Senior Lecturer within the Department of Computer Science. His body of research focuses on runtime monitoring of various applications spanning financial gateway systems, social network privacy policies, tax compliance, and cybersecurity.
To close off, a Governance, Risk, and Compliance session will be delivered by Ms Sarah Armstrong-Smith entitled ‘Supercharging the Cyber Incident Response for SMEs’.
Operating at the forefront of the cybersecurity industry, Sarah Armstrong-Smith is the Chief Security Advisor at Microsoft. She has led a long and impactful career, helping businesses evolve their security strategy and capabilities to support digital transformation and cloud adoption. Working with customers across Europe, Sarah offers valuable advice on cybersecurity strategies to protect people and data, ensuring stronger defences against attackers, to deliver effective resilience. Sarah is a Fellow of the British Computer Society and has been recognised as one of the most influential and inspiring women in UK Tech, regularly contributing to thought leadership and industry publications. She recently published her first book ‘Effective Crisis Management’ which examines the strategic response to major events.
