Google released a statement saying that its social media platform Google+ has suffered a massive breach which left it with no option but to shut down the struggling platform 4 months earlier than planned.
Google explained that flaw within the new API that is thought to have effected more than 52 million users, had allowed developers to access and steal private information like names, email addresses and ages.
This feature was designed by Google itself to allow apps to view user’s information but unfortunately a vulnerability gave access even to “non-public” accounts.
A spokesman for Google assured that no financial information or passwords were breached in this incident.
