CYBER Breakfast: 18 | 03 | 2025

We are excited to kick off this year’s events with a dynamic CYBER Breakfast, bringing together members of the National Cybersecurity Community for an engaging and immersive training workshop.

This event will feature an immersive hands-on workshop where participants will collaborate in groups to develop a Cybersecurity Profile for a fictitious organization using the NIST CSF v2.0 framework. Throughout the session, participants will select and prioritise the applicable controls while addressing sector-specific challenges. Subsequently, choices will be put to the test through a table-top exercise encompassing various real-life threat scenarios. Ultimately, the session aims to foster collaboration and educate participants on risk management and on a risk-based approach for implementing cybersecurity controls.

The event will take place on Tuesday, 18th March 2025 between 08:00 and 12:00, at The Link Hall, Malta Business Registry, AM Business Centre, Triq il-Labour, Zejtun. Participants are required to bring their laptops or tablets for this workshop, as they will need them throughout the session.

Join us for a morning of learning, collaboration, and networking in the ever-evolving world of cybersecurity!

Nicholas Aquilina, IT Risk and Control Manager at APS Bank, will open the first session with his presentation, “Navigating the Cybersecurity Landscape: A Framework for Risk and Resilience.” He will explore how businesses today face mounting pressure not only to safeguard their assets but also to maintain operational continuity and resilience amid potential breaches.

The presentation will delve into how organizations can effectively navigate the complex cybersecurity landscape by adopting structured frameworks that align security initiatives with broader business objectives. It will emphasize the shift from viewing cybersecurity as a reactive necessity to embracing it as a proactive enabler of growth and innovation.

Through this discussion, attendees will learn how these frameworks can help organizations identify and manage risks, enhance resilience, and ensure business continuity.

This will be followed by a training workshop whereby initially the attendees will be divided into groups, each representing an organisation and as a team they will discuss, identify and agree on the right mix of cybersecurity controls from NIST CSF, ultimately deciding on their risk profile.

Eventually, they will be presented with different attack or threat scenarios, which will be introduced in multiple stages. Each stage may or may not leave an impact on each group’s organisation based on their risk profile, as well a differing extent of impact.

This event is open strictly to Community Members.
